Our story

That’s why our company is called Caventura – derived from the Spanish word Aventura , which means adventure.

It all begins with a trip around the world, two special encounters and lots of coffee.

The story of Caventura begins three years ago on a completely ordinary Tuesday – in Munich. Back then, we, Marija and Georgi , were still working at Amazon. After a long day, we sat in a small café in the sun, two flat whites in front of us, and began to dream:

"How about just setting off? Without a destination, without obligations, without time pressure?"

And suddenly we asked ourselves:
What is actually stopping us from doing this?

We thought long and hard about it—about jobs, housing, security—and couldn't find a good reason. So we decided:
We make it easy.

From world travels

A year later, everything was organized: job quit, apartment sublet, vaccinations done – backpack packed.

First stop: Mexico.
In Chiapas, a traditional coffee region, we gathered our first impressions. Then we continued:
→ Burning Man
→ through Costa Rica and Panama
→ across the Caribbean Sea with a sailboat

And then: Colombia.
That's where the chapter that changed everything began.

Of encounters

In northern Colombia, we worked at an organic and Fairtrade coffee cooperative. There, we experienced coffee cultivation firsthand – and met two people who fundamentally shaped our lives and our idea:

Mildred Niebles
She was the cooperative's quality manager—and welcomed us in. She not only showed us the world of coffee but also shared her own moving story.
Mildred raised three children alone, defended her farm against armed guerrillas, and was the only woman in her cooperative to earn a university degree and a coffee expertise certification.

Señor Jaime Alberto García Flores
In a remote mountain region – seven hours from the nearest town – we met Jaime. We lived on his finca without electricity, but with a wealth of knowledge and community spirit.
We got up every day at 4 a.m., experienced the daily life of the coffee farmers, and in the evenings, in the light of the jungle, talked about sustainability, challenges, and the future.

From great coffees

This journey – and these encounters – have shown us:
Coffee is more than a product.
It is a bridge between two worlds.

On the one hand, there are the farmers: humble, experienced, and dedicated. They don't need donations, but rather respect, fair prices, and access to knowledge to sustainably improve their standard of living—in harmony with the environment and the community.

On the other side are us – the coffee lovers. We want to drink great coffee, but we also want to know where it comes from, who grew it, and under what conditions. We want to be sure that our passion for coffee contributes to something good.

🤝 Our Mission

With Caventura we want to make exactly that possible:
A direct, transparent relationship between producers and consumers.

For better coffee – and a better world.
